Receivers like the single chip DP301-013, some of the DP508
and the DP510 receivers have one sector of their TSOP chip locked. In
order for us to do an erase (needed before a write) we need to remove this
write protection. In essence we need to put +5 volt on one of the TSOP's
pins which is normally grounded. It is very important that you do the
trace cuts outlined or you will kill your receivers dead.
The legacy Echostar 6000 receivers do not need a Vid Mod
in the strictest sense but they do need you to put the receiver into boot
mode by installing a small jumper. Follow the instructions to the letter
and you will be OK. If you have any doubt read and ask on my forums
dedicated to the receivers
